Information for media representatives

From 19-24 June, approximately 4,000 athletes with and without disabilities compete in the Special Olympics Nationale Spiele Berlin 2022.

The National Summer Games of Special Olympics Germany take place every four years. In 2022, the stakes are high for all participants: they can qualify for the Special Olympics World Games 2023, which will also be held in Berlin.

Accreditation

The accreditation process for the Special Olympics National Games Berlin 2022 is open until May 6, 2022.
The National Games are much more than competitions in 20 sports. They are also a demonstration for more recognition and social participation of people with intellectual disabilities.

Press Conference on 28 April

Media representatives are invited to a press conference on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 10:00am in Rudolf-Harbig-Halle in Berlin. Guests will include Timothy Shriver, Chairman of Special Olympics International, Iris Spranger, Senator for the Interior, Digitalization and Sport, representatives of SO Germany and the "Faces of the Games". Registration is appreciated.

We are overwhelmed! A week full of emotions, sports and parties lies behind us. Everyone had their own personal highlights and gained experiences that will be remembered. Let us revel in them together and already look forward to next year's World Games in Berlin.

#Berlin2022 Day 5! What's on the agenda today?

It is Day 5 and therefore already the last day of the National Games. Today we have triathlon, the finals of handball and basketball as well as the big Closing Ceremony on the schedule. An overview of the day's highlights can be found here.
