#Berlin2022 Day 5! What's on the agenda today?

In the photo a basketball team is standing in a semicircle on the court. Everyone is cheering joyfully into the camera and one player is holding a basketball. It is not a game situation.

It is Day 5 and therefore already the last day of the National Games. Today we have triathlon, the finals of handball and basketball as well as the big Closing Ceremony on the schedule. An overview of the day's highlights can be found here.

  • In triathlon, the athletes competing are the last ones to start the games.
  • The handball and basketball teams are ready for their finals.
  • We celebrate and look back on the eventful week together at the big Closing Ceremony directly at Brandenburg Gate.

It is already the final day of the Special Olympics National Games Berlin 2022 and we will soon look back on a week full of emotions, joy and exciting competitions. But before we do that, we are looking forward to the last day of competitions.

The athletes competing in triathlon have waited the longest for their start. Today they give their best in Super Sprint on the grounds of Olympiapark.

The Super Sprint starts at 10:00am and includes 350m swimming, 10km cycling and 2.5km running.

In addition, today the finals in handballand basketball take place. We are looking forward to exciting games and wish everyone a lot of fun and success.

Moreover, our athletes have their last competition today in the following sports: bocce, cycling, equestrian, football, judo, table tennis and tennis.

When the sporting competitions and emotional award ceremonies are over, everyone will head to the Brandenburg Gate to celebrate. After the athletes' disco last Wednesday, the dance floor will be rocked again at the Closing Ceremony.

Starting with an official part with, among other things, the ceremonial extinguishing of the Special Olympics flame, there will be a lot of music and certainly a polonaise or two on the program before we have to say goodbye to everyone with a big fireworks display.

But do not be sad: We see you again next year at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, the world's largest inclusive sports event!
