In less than a month, the National Games will start with the big Opening Ceremony on 19 June at "Stadion An der Alten Försterei". We are excited to reveal: The Berlin cult band MiA. will play their hits "Tanz der Moleküle" and "Fallschirm" as the main act of the music program!

With more than 4,000 athletes, relatives and fans we will celebrate the music of MiA. together. We will all make the beginning of the National Games Berlin 2022 a great celebration of sport and inclusion and contribute to a change in society's awareness of people with intellectual disabilities.

Mieze Katz, frontwoman of the band, says: "We are very happy to be part of the Opening Ceremony of the National Games Berlin 2022. Because the Special Olympics are not only a sporting event, but also a statement for inclusion, diversity and an open, colorful society. It was, is, and will remain our desire to contribute to keeping these values alive in the public consciousness with our work."

Lisa Carstensen, as Director in the Non-Sports Division of the Organizing Committee responsible for the implementation of the Opening Ceremony, adds: "We are delighted that MiA. was immediately enthusiastic about the idea of playing at the Opening Ceremony of the National Games Berlin 2022. The band's hits bring the pure joy of Special Olympics directly across. We invite everyone to be infected by the warmth and openness of our athletes and celebrate the opening of the National Games Berlin 2022 together with all of us."

MiA. will be part of the big show at the Opening Ceremony, in which the sports and cultural metropolis Berlin will present itself as a colorful host city. The program also includes the parade of athletes as a solemn entry of the delegations, the lighting of the flame and much more.
